Focus on stronger security grid, counter-infiltration measures, anti-smuggling operations and technology-driven border domination
Gandhinagar/Okha: Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Praveen Kumar, reviewed the security situation, operational preparedness and border management along the Western Frontier during a conference with senior BSF officers at Frontier Headquarters, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The conference examined measures to further strengthen the border security grid and reviewed the implementation of recent directions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Senior officers also discussed border infrastructure, counter-infiltration measures, trans-border smuggling and other emerging security challenges.
DG BSF directed field formations to further enhance border domination through the effective deployment of human resources, technology and intelligence. He stressed the need for closer coordination and greater synergy among the BSF, other security forces and agencies, as well as the civil administration, to address evolving threats along the frontier.
Focus on curbing cross-border narcotics trafficking
Reiterating the Government’s vision of Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2029, Praveen Kumar called for sustained and coordinated action against networks involved in trans-border narcotics trafficking.
He emphasised the need to identify, disrupt and dismantle the networks facilitating the movement of drugs across the international border, with intelligence-led operations and inter-agency coordination playing a key role.
DG BSF Reviews Training and Infrastructure at Okha
During his visit to Okha, the DG BSF also visited the National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP) and reviewed the progress of ongoing training programmes, upcoming infrastructure projects and the availability of trainers and staff.
As part of his visit, Praveen Kumar participated in a plantation drive on the NACP campus. He also shared lunch with BSF jawans and staff at Okha, interacting with personnel and acknowledging their role in maintaining security.
The DG’s review underlined the BSF’s focus on combining personnel preparedness, modern technology, intelligence coordination, infrastructure development and inter-agency cooperation to strengthen security along India’s western and coastal frontiers.
